Since
the inception of the Merrie Monarch Festival, Creative
Arts Hawaii has been there to work and grow alongside
this World Class Event.
Bringing the title of “Hula Capital of the
World” to Hilo and putting this picturesque town on
the map, the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival is, by far,
the Big Island’s Premier Cultural Event. It draws
thousands of visitors each year to watch in awe as
Hula Halau from all over the world compete in a
weeklong celebration of Hula.

Creative
Arts Hawaii is proud to be the official printer of the
Merrie Monarch Festival. The now famous wrap around
“Lei” shirts have become collector shirts that
people all over the world recognize today.
Every
year, the Merrie Monarch T-shirts are marketed by
Halau members to not only help perpetuate this most
worthy event, but to also provide fundraising monies
for each participating Halau. These beautifully
illustrated t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts,
tank tops and tote bags are available for sale at the
event site. They are also available prior to the
festival through the Halau and the Merrie Monarch
Festival Office.
The
2004 Merrie Monarch Festival will continue the legacy
of hula in celebration of the cultural and artistic
heritage of Hawaii. We, at Creative Arts Hawaii,
applaud all the Halau, the Kumu Hulas, the musicians,
and the thousands of participants and visitors who
annually join in preserving this living legacy.
